Over the past six decades, approximately 200,000 South Korean children have been sent to the West for adoption. Many birth families and adoptees search for each other, but few reunite. This documentary follows a Korean mother and her American son as they actually do reunite and attempt to build a relationship after 30 years apart. A young mother leaves her infant son in the care of relatives while she goes to another city for work. Upon her return, she discovers her baby has been put up for adoption. She believes she’ll never see her son again. Her son, adopted by a family in South Dakota, believes he’ll never know why he was given up. When they meet for the first time on Korean national television, their lives dramatically change. Facing language, cultural and financial challenges, mother and son navigate a delicate and touching path towards reconciliation and understanding.
