Ethnic divides vanish in the common Singapore passion: Shopping! Award-winning filmmaker Wee Lin (a self-confessed shop-a-holic) comically but sympathetically shows that in Singapore, while love and connection fail, shopping is forever. Clara, a mature lady of leisure retreats to the mall as she questions her relationship. She finds common ground with an Indian latchkey kid who ditches her family for the toyland, a young man obsessed with dungeons and dragons who escapes his girlfriend’s betrayal in a fantasy store, and a Malay transvestite who takes over the ladies’ changing room to transforms into the woman he should be. Viewers share the journey of love, loss, and lunacy as Singapore's multicultural citizens buy into the dreams that underpin the city-state's success and break through them.
